Once upon a time, in a land not so far away, lived a fashionista who endlessly dreamt of gracing the front row of London Fashion Week. Being surrounded by Chanel, Dior, and Louboutin, this fairytale fashionista had a dream to make dressing exquisitely her life’s work.

Featured in the newspaper...

So, a day before London Fashion Week I was interviewed by a newspaper called "The Voice". It was really good, and lasted about 10 minutes and the interviewer basically just asked me about my aspirations and how I feel about the experience.

You can read the article below, or click the image for a zoomed image of the article (it has clearer text)

It felt so weird to open the newspaper and see my face there, as well as a pretty large article! And it was page 3 so you literally open the newspaper and there I am, with a catchy title.

I'm really excited about the press though.

Hopefully more to come :)

London Fashion Week – Day 3 onwards… (Celebrities at Luella pictures included)

So I realize I haven't update since Saturday, which is really bad of me, but I've been real busy!

So I'm going to cover all the days from then, till now in one super big post.

I have loads of outfit pictures to take, because I didn't take any on the days of the show (too busy.)

Sunday was pretty chill.

Betty Jackson was at 9:15, I could barely wake up that morning. But I love Betty Jackson.

I went to a presentation by the designer "Modernist" and saw his collection. It was my first presentation of the week, but I quite liked it (and it was a lot easier to take photo's – models are literally running off the catwalk at some shows). So we met the designer, talked to him for a bit about his collection, and took some pictures.

I really quite liked the collection, especially the use of human hair on the dresses. Really unique.

From then, we went for lunch and then planned to see Nico Didonna at the Vauxhall Fashion Scout venue. Eley Kishimoto was afterwards. I really liked the collection, it was airport themed. The opening music was "Come fly with me", the invites for the show were plane tickets, the collection was called "Jet Set Masala", and prior to the show starting, and we could hear airport announcements in Japanese. It was very fun, but quite hard to take pictures of (sprinting models again)

However, I managed to snap these…

Afterwards, quick trips to the press lounge, a walk about in the exhibition… Was so amazingly excited about Luella, she is one of my favourite designers, and being invited to her show meant so much to me, not to mention they were excellent seats!

Ossie Clark, THE Ossie Clark brand – but designed by Avsh Alom Gur, was an excellent collection. I was really excited to be invited to the show, as it is a brand that is part of fashion history.

Luella has definitely stolen the place of best show for me. As per usual, the audience was extremely star studded. Including:

  • Kanye West
  • Pixie Geldof (modeling)
  • Sir Bob Geldof & Peaches Geldof (Supporting Pixie who was modeling in the show)
  • Nicola Roberts from Girls Aloud
  • Kaya Scodelario (Effy from Skins and girl in my blog header)
  • Portia Freeman

I was quite excited to see them up close, needless to say.

Here are some pictures I took of the famous faces:

I also adored almost every piece in her collection. It matches my style completely, here are some pictures I took of some of the looks:

Overall, definitely my favourite show of the week. Hopefully I'll get invited next season, and pluck up the courage to actually talk to a couple of celebrities. Yeh…

From then, the Mulberry presentation followed. A lot of people who attended to Luella show planned to go to the Mulberry presentation also. We were treated to scarab beetle shaped biscuits, freshly squeezed juices, and other canapé's. There were beetles (fake of course) everywhere. On the invitation, the scenery, the biscuits, so I was intrigued to see the collection. The presentation started with an audio clip from Snow White (where the Queen asks the mirror who is the fairest of them all) which quickly mixed into music, with "Mirror, Mirror on the wall. Who's the fairest of them all" played on loop. I loved the collection, especially the bags and purses.

I was also invited to Harriet's Muse, Maria Grachvogel and William Tempest (Emma Watson was there). I loved William Tempest's collection.

Osman Yousefzada, Josh Goot, Emma Bell, Momo, Tim Soar, Carolyn Massey. I obviously cannot go into detail about all the shows. Although, as expected, I love Emma Bell. I went last year, and I really admire her quirky designs. Josh Goot has always been a favourite of mine, so I was pretty excited also.

I'll post links to the articles when they are all published.

This reminds me, I've got a lot of writing to do…

Outfit posts later.

London Fashion Week – Day Two

Hello there lovelies!

Before I forget, what I wore today...

Had fun today! Went to the UK & International Young Fashion Entrepreneur award ceremony, presented by Hilary Alexander…

Oh the woes of being fifteen. It was a champagne reception, but I had to have orange juice instead. At least it was in a champagne flute. The ceremony was pretty good, and the finalists seemed like good designers.

I had to run off early from that show, to make John Rocha. I really liked the show, and would love some of the pieces. Only caught the one picture, the models were walking a bit fast, my camera couldn't cope! Did some videoing though… am I ever going to upload these? Or are they going to sit in my camera taking up space. Gah.

Afterwards, I went to the Topshop Unique show. I've been looking forward to it since… well, last season's show. This time I was invited to the pre-show reception. With consisted of loads of beautifully dressed girls, champagne (not for me) and canapĂ©s.

I got mini-interviewed by the Topshop team. They asked me about what I was wearing, if I'm excited about the show etc. I'm pretty sure I spoke mainly rubbish, so I wouldn't be surprised if my footage ends up on the cutting room floor. Would be pretty awesome if they do, but let's wait and see.

And then… my camera died. So I whipped out the camcorder and did some more videoing (oh joy, more video that will probably never be uploaded onto the computer, never mind edited and made into a video. I will try though, promise!)

The Topshop Unique show definitely lived up to my expectations, and more some. I saw Daisy Lowe and Pixie Geldof! In fact, they sat pretty close to me.

*star struck*

Oh, and we got a really hot scarf/shall from the Autumn Winter 09 collection. It's grey and is so awesome, and the fact that not that many people will have it makes me happy! Will make an outfit around it, and post it after LFW is over. My complimentary Topshop lunch was pretty yummy too :)

After the show, I had some lunch, hung out in the press lounge, and looked around the exhibition. And then off to the Horace show…

I've always liked Horace, and was pretty excited to be invited. It started late (most Vauxhall Fashion Scout shows do, unfortunately), but was well worth it! I really want some of the pieces.

Today was pretty hectic. Shows were moved to different venues, and there was loads of confusion. So I stuck to four events, and enjoyed myself immensely!

Tomorrow is going to be quite busy.

Betty Jackson (9:15! I don't think I can make it, but I will try), Modernist, Nico Didonna, Eley Kishimoto, Hemyca, Romina Karamanaea, Emilio De La Morena & Krystof Strozyna.

Pretty excited about Eley Kishimoto.

Anyway, I must sleep, and rest my aching feet. (That's what you get for walking all day, for two days, in 4 or 5 inch heels.)

Something old, something new...

No, I'm not getting married… (duh!) But I do admire that wedding custom. And though I won't be thinking of weddings for years to come, the saying applies to what I will be bringing you in this post. Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue!

Let's start off with something old…

When starting off this post, I wanted to clear my camera of old pictures & videos so I don't have to buy a new memory card (the credit crunch is an evil thing.) I found some pictures and video footage I took last year at London Fashion Week, and was wondering whether I should cut it and make a video out of it? The shows are Topshop Unique, Inbar Spector and Caroline Charles I think? Ah, that's if I find time… Would you like to see it? Maybe you can persuade me.

I also found a random picture I took ago! You want to see? Ah, well since you asked so nicely…

Skirt; Topshop

Tights; M&S

Something new? Invitations of course! It's pretty geeky, but I love opening my invitations! The mystery… Who will it be from? Will I be invited to the after party? What will it look like? So when I got a bunch of envelopes yesterday and today, I got so excited! Here are some of my favourites:

So, I received my TOPSHOP UNIQUE invitation on Thursday. I was actually so excited to receive this invitation in particular. I'll admit it, I screamed. (cue ridicule) But I am really excited to go to the Topshop Unique show. I went last year, and it was amazing. This time, I'm also invited to the pre-show reception and a lunch courtesy of Topshop!

But don't worry, I still love you other invitations. Don't be jealous of Miss. Topshop Unique. My heart has room for all of you.

So…

My precious. So purtyyyy.

I also got invited to the International & UK Young Fashion Entrepreneur awards. Needless to say, I was pretty excited to go. But no champers for me, I'm only 15. Still, I expect it'll be pretty amazing. Eeeeek!

I really like Osman Yousefzada, so I was really pleased I was invited to his show & after party!

And Betty Jackson…

I got invited last year, but wasn't able to attend (the tail end of LFW clashed with our school photo day, sigh.) But this year, I definitely will!

Apologies for the lateness of this post. I planned to blog on Friday but came home late, and Saturday I was real busy/my friends distracted me (See how I cleverly shifted the blame onto my friends?) But it's here, and ridiculously long!

Also, apologies for the lack of inspiration outfit/overall tired look of my face. I literally woke up, put whatever on, and took some photo's.
I'm all about the apologies today, huh?

Coming up... Fashion Week shoe choice #1, more invitations and fashion week preparations.
(ooh, rhyme! i'm a poet as well as a fashion writer? i got all the skilssss, haha)

Half Term holidays = a more dedicated fashionista du jour!

The pre-fashion week excitement is beginning to set in…

I'll show you what to do, Jimmy Choo

Second post of the night, I couldn't keep you in suspense now could I?

If you read the first post (you haven't read it? Read it!) you will know I write for a fashion website, based in the US.

A certain number of Teen Vogue forum users will know that I am going to London Fashion Week for the second time! (I went last season – but this time will be so much better. More designers, more shows, more fun!)

So I thought it'd be a pretty nifty idea to post coverage on the upcoming London Fashion Week.

So from now on, till the end of London Fashion Week. This blog will be more or less LFW crazy! I will document all the preparations I make, as well as outfits I will be wearing, invitations I receive, and all the bits in between!

And for starters, I thought I'd show you the invitations I've received so far!

A lot are still in the mail or about to be posted, as believe it or not, it's still a bit early. As they say, fashionably late is the way to go. I remember last season, I was still getting invitations after the week had started!

John Rocha and Caroline Charles invitations! So beautiful! I went to Caroline Charles last year, it was amazing. I'll link the article I wrote on the collection at some point… Haven't been to John Rocha, but I am pretty excited. The invitation looks plain but it folds out into a really cute poster! Another thing to add to my wall…

As well as all the major, well known designers, I really find it interesting to look at the new up and coming talent, so I have invites to lots of lesser-known/fashion student shows. Here are some more invitations…

I'll keep you updated! I plan on post frequently up until London Fashion Week, then daily during LFW and back to frequently again! Closer to the date I'll show you some outfits I'm thinking of wearing…

I'll also take pictures AT London Fashion Week, maybe I'll do a little celebrity spotting? Can you say… Erin O'Connor, Jimmy Choo, Pixie & Peaches Geldof… I saw them last year. Let's hope this year is just as good celeb spotting wise.

My homework awaits me, dolls.

PPS. I'm not anonymous... I just look really rough today, and don't want to scare you off with my "tired, just came home from school frown". Not a good look!

Fashionista du jour – the premiere post

Good evening, fashionista's. My name is Aindrea, and this is my blog – fashionista du jour (fashionista of today)

There's something defining about first posts. It sets a standard of how i mean to go on, and improve.

And with that in mind, I throw away all regard to the structure of this post, as I have homework to do.

(Oh the woes of being a fashionista. Would much rather be reading the new British Vogue… c'est la vie.)

This post isn't going very well is it? Woops…

Anyway, back on track. I'm really quite excited about this blog. I'll post outfits, trends, features, and all the shows/events I'm invited too (more of that later ;) – I'm such a tease)

I'm starting this blog a week and a bit before London Fashion Week. Ah, that got your attention! Well, I'm going to a couple of shows... I've said too much!

So hopefully you won't get bored of me and my ramblings.

THE 411 ON AINDREA

  • I'm 15 and aspire to work in the fashion industry. I don't want to restrict myself to a certain career, but fashion journalism seems most likely. So editor of a fashion magazine (Conde Nast, Hachette Filipacchi... get ready)
  • I spend way too much on fashion magazines. I am a self confessed fashion magazine junkie. Vogue (British & Paris), Elle, i-D, Pop, Dazed & Confused, NYLON, Teen Vogue, Harpers Bazaar all take up lots of space in my room. I can't throw them away! They're my babies!
  • I'm a fashion journalist for a fashion website. You'll probably have heard of it, but I want to confirm I can talk about it before I state it. Don't worry, I won't keep you in the dark for long!

You know what I just realized? I hate talking about myself. You'll just have to keep reading my blog.

Au revoir, petite fashionista's!
